We have had such a great time this term here at Magic Roundabout!
Our theme this term was People Who Help Us which coincided with World Book Day. We were lucky enough to have had 3 visits from different people who help us. We had a Tractor and Farmer day, (thank you, Farol Ltd), a Fire Engine day with Thame Fire Service and their fire fighters and finally we had a Police day with two police officers and a police car to come and visit us all. The children loved it and had a most fantastic time looking around all the vehicles and talking to our visitors. We are incredibly grateful to those individuals who made these special days possible for our tots.
Next term we are looking at relationships; what does family mean? Who is in my family? How do we make friends and how do we care for our pets? We’ll be learning some signing to go with this theme and many other activities too.
We will also be looking at our relationship with our planet and be finding out how we can look after it. We will also be growing our own vegetables and flowers in our lovely garden, so any donations of left over seeds. pots, planters and compost would be most gratefully received! Hopefully we will have a better summer and we can enjoy the fruits of our labours!

Amberley Publishing has recently published a brand-new book “Oxfordshire Place Names” by Anthony Poulton-Smith. It’s an A-Z directory of the names of local woods, streams, roads, pubs and more and the origins of those names, backed up by lively anecdotes and a good dose of regional history.

Tetsworth Primary School AssociationThe TPSA is a fundraising body that supports the school in every way possible by raising money, supporting school events, and increasing awareness of the school and its developments, within the local community. We focus on raising funds for school equipment and more importantly school trips and luxuries that the children otherwise wouldn’t get in the day to day running of the school. Our group is run entirely by volunteers and we rely on the parents, teachers and villagers to support us in our endeavours.
Thanks to lots of hard work the school extension is now completed and we have two fantastic new classrooms as well as a library area and a proper school hall! The TPSA is continuing its fund raising work to help keep all the school equipment up to date and in line with the curriculum. For example, we recently funded the purchase of some circus equipment that the children we keen to have after they had enjoyed a circus skills workshop. We look for opportunities like this throughout the school year where we can help improve the range of equipment that the school has.
We regularly organise fund raising events – namely our very well attended yearly quiz night, which this year will help to ensure that all year 5 & 6 children have the opportunity to spend a week away from home at the Kingswood centre in Norfolk. The TPSA also work with the School Council to organise events such as Family Bingo Nights, and to maintain a presence at village events such as the Village Funday and the Christmas Craft Fayre, where the children also helping in the planning and running of stalls. Last year, for example, the children helped design cloth carrier bags which then went on sale at the Craft Fayre.
We are always looking for local sponsors to help with these events, so if you are willing to help, in any small way, please do get in touch.
If you have any queries about our work, our role in the community, or our forthcoming events, please do not hesitate to contact me.
